The courses

If you are between 14 to 16 years, and you are looking for a training course, that gives you a specifically preparation to the world of work… read carefully this page!

The Italian legislation provides for all boys and girls the Compulsory Education for at least 10 years (that is until 16 years of age) and the right and duty to education and training. So they have to continue their studies to earn a Diploma or Vocational Qualification, within 18 years.

After the Scuola Media (Middle School), you can enrol in a course:

  • Regional Education and Vocational Training Course, with the duration of three years
  • Education in a Secondary School degree (High Schools, Technical Institutes and Professional Institutes), with duration of five years.

The Vocational Training Agency “Colline Astigiane” offers courses in the Education and Vocational Training’s area.

If you are 14 years old and you have finished school, you can enrol to three-year courses:

  • Operator Catering – Preparing meals
  • Operator Catering – Services of bar

If you are 15 years old, you have finished school or you have already attended one year in a Secondary School (with negative or positive outcome of the school), you can enrol to two-year courses:

  • Operator Catering – Preparing meals
  • Operator Catering – Services of bar

All Operator Catering courses provide for stages in restaurants and hotels four stars, in Piedmont, in Valle d’Aosta (Aosta Valley) and Liguria. And moreover, some students can participate in an internship abroad thanks to the European Project Leonardo.

All courses three-year and two-year grant a Professional Qualification, certified by the Piedmont Region, with national validity. This Qualification has been recognized in public competitions and useful to obtain permission for business projects in the restaurant area.

The students have several opportunities:

  •  they can attend to the fourth and fifth year in a public Professional Institute, after an integrative course of 100 hours.
  • after the Qualification of “Cooking – course”, always in the Vocational Training Agency, they can attend to the fourth experimental year (with duration of 1050 hours). At the end of this year, they will obtain the Professional Diploma “Technician of cooking”, of equal legal value with Diploma of a Public Professional Institute.

And the Agency integrates the three-year and two-year courses with support actions for disabled boys and girls, support group actions to obtain credits and LARSA course to easing the transition from training to education school, of course after obtaining of Professional Qualification.
